Are you over 18? Yes
Do you have any other characters in game?: No
Who invited you?: NA
Character Name: The Girl, canonically she has no name, fandom calls her Milk-chan, I find that to be... kinda demeaning? I can certainly make up a name, or maybe she can pick one down the line.
Canon: Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk / Milk outside a bag of milk outside a bag of milk (Milk Series)
Canon Point: Post Milk outside, Room and Field Ending
Age: Twenty four
History: here Please be mindful of cw's: bullying, suicide, attempted murder, mental illness, hallucinations, needles.
I know her backstory pre canon is muddled with unreliable narriator syndrome, I made a post about what backstory is canon to this version of her here on my journal.
Personality: If an AU, please include differences from canon.
The Girl outwardly is meek, socially withdrawn, and compliant to the people around her. She is incredibly conflict avoidant to the point of relying on politeness to get her through situations. If she had her way she'd much rather stay inside and think things over rather than do much of anything.
Her view of reality is warped and that directly influences how the girl interacts with her surroundings as she's greatly implied by canon to be schizophrenic. She sees and hears things others do not and reacts accordingly to those stimuli. Her emotions are worn on her sleeve, even if she doesn't always say a lot, particularly when she's still getting to know someone new, it's easy to tell when she's scared or upset.
She does show a desire to change and be less withdrawn, though as she currently stands right now, she believes that 'being normal' is the ideal, as shown in canon by a scene where she tries to forgo taking her medication. She thinks reliance on her medication is weakness and not being in control of herself. (Which is not true! Please take your medications ok thanks)
Denial is another shield she wears, a lot of her accounts of her own past change rapidly, and she is quick to deny when she wasn't doing well, acting as if nothing happened. This is another way she adjusts to reality around herself, sometimes the truth is painful, acting like nothing bad has happened, even temporarily, is a good way to get through things, even if maladaptive.
A lot of the story takes place with the girl communicating to you, the player, as canon interprets the player as a voice in her head. In those dialogues she shows a bit more personality beyond the timid cloak she wears as an active shield from the oppressive world around her. She has a way of thinking internally that is almost playful, a more whimsical side to her. She talks to the player character, or the voice inside her head, in a much more casual manner, sometimes cheerful, often emotional, and somewhat childish. I do think this side of her can come out as she becomes more used to her environment, and even on the network, which will be elaborated on more below.
She also carries certain beliefs that do not align with what most people believe. There are many canon examples of this but I think the biggest one is that she had a period of time where she was active online. She sincerely believes that people inside of a computer are 'bots' and not real which is part of how she copes with her past of being cyber bullied. I think this behavior could carry over to the Network, viewing the people using the Network as not real, and allowing more of her internal personality to show though, as she thinks she's talking to people who aren't actually real.
Powers and Abilities: None
Inventory: Her clothing, she's unlucky and had nothing in her pockets. She wears a black long sleeved shirt with a red O with a slash through it, grey shorts, and grey slippers.
Sample: Please include a link of a current writing sample (from the past 2 months) or write up something set in the Library.
When presented with a choice, is the character more likely to stick with tried and true methods? Or make something new up on the fly? It genuinely depends on what sort of state of mind she's in. When calm I feel like she's a creature of habit, of routine, she does the same or similar things everyday and doesn't deviate too much from that. However, in moments of extreme stress, she has been known to be impulsive and take new actions.
What is more important to your character, preserving the past or forging a future? Sadly, probably preserving the past. I don't think she thinks much about the future, instead, she's much more likely to replay stories of her past in her head, nitpicking the details.
How does your character influence their own story? What about the stories of others? The girl is a very passive character for the most part. Canonically she is either moved to action by orders from her Mother or by instructions from the Player (which in canon, it's interpreted as a voice she hears.) She WANTS to be in control of her own actions, which is the entire reason for the scene in canon where she chooses not to take her own medication. It is a form of trying to influence her own story and take control. However, her attempts are misguided, and cause her more harm instead.
Are you alright with your character’s canon being used as a Recommended Reading?: Very tentative yes? As long as everyone's okay with the content and has been sufficiently warned it could be rather interesting. But also I totally get if mods would rather skip it.
